Dr Venu

I am a consultant paediatrician with training and expertise in Paediatric cardiology currently working at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. I completed my primary training in India in 1978 and subsequently practiced in India, and the MiddleEast. I moved over to the UK in 2004.

Research/Publications

I have contributed to cardiology chapters in the on line Medscape Text book of Paediatrics as well as other paediatric and cardiology textbooks. These chapters are on cardiomyopathy, mitral valve prolapse, pericardial effusion, pulmonary stenosis, and the nutritional impact of heart diseases.

I have authored around 100 Medline indexed publications and am co-author to the textbook ‘Clinical cases in Paediatrics: DCH Clinical Examinations’.

Education

I take an active role in teaching and medical education and was made an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Brighton & Sussex Medical School. This involves regularly teaching medical students. In addition, I am a clinical supervisor and educational supervisor for trainee doctors.

I have pioneered the training of doctors and allied health professionals through the several online and face to face courses that I run. I also the invited Faculty for RCPCH training courses.

I am also a Senior Examiner for the RCPCH examinations for the UK and overseas, which involves setting high quality examinations and examining Paediatricians in training to become a consultant.

Dr Anna McCorquodale

I am a driven and hard-working Consultant Paediatrician with additional expertise in neonatal medicine, cardiology and acute paediatrics currently working at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. 

I am actively involved in mentoring and guideline development and strive to continue contributing to these areas. 

I have been involved in teaching since graduation, I have completed GIC and advanced educational supervision courses. In late 2023 I was appointed as Royal College Tutor following interview & continue to occupy this role.

Research/Publications

I have published papers in leading medical journals along with contributed to ‘Don’t forget the bubbles’ by authoring ‘Approaching the paediatric ECG’.

Education

I regularly teach undergraduates and post graduates at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, along with being invited to present on many ECG and arrhythmia courses. I am an NLS instructor and have provided many START supervision/support sessions. I have previously been involved in combined GOSH PICU/NICU/CATS teaching meetings along with PSIC group teaching sessions.

Dr Brian McCrossan

I am currently a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at Belfast Health & Social Care NHS Trust.

I am a member of cardiology CSAC, and Training Programme Director (TPD) for paediatric cardiology, Northern Ireland.

I trained in Paediatric Cardiology at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. In addition I have completed two fellowships during my training: One year at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and a further two year fellowship in paediatric cardiac catheter interventions in Dublin. 

I have been awarded the Colonel Davis Scholarship for research in 2009 and am currently an honorary lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast. 

I have published widely in international journals across a range of topics in congenital heart disease and am frequently invited to speak at international/ national conferences & training courses. I maintain a keen interest in medical research with particular interests in telemedicine, genetic syndromes associated with heart disease and psychological impact of heart disease on children and their families.

Dr Sankara Narayanan

I am a Consultant Neonatologist with Cardiology expertise at Watford General Hospital.

I am an Educational Supervisor and have lead roles in the East of England Deanery

Dr Michaela Pentony

I I am a Consultant Paediatrician with Expertise in Cardiology currently working at Cork University Hospital, Ireland. I have completed a post CCST fellowship in cardiology at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin.

I am actively involved in teaching and research. I have published and presented on topics pertinent to paediatric cardiology including infective endocarditis, the role of ECG screening in ADHD and the challenges of nutrition and growth in infants undergoing cardiac surgery. I have an active role in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Dr Sanjay Raina

I am a Consultant Paediatrician with expertise in cardiology working at The Princess Alexandra Hospital since 2011. I am currently the Paediatric Cardiology lead and have previously led Neonatal, Paediatric Oncology services.

Dr Aravind Shastri

I am currently working as a Consultant Paediatrician with expertise in cardiology at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I am the lead for Paediatric Cardiology at Norwich and am regularly involved in managing children with heart disease and arrhythmia.

Education

I am actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduates in East of England denary.  I am currently lead for Paediatric Education at The University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich and am also a faculty member in many courses in field of paediatric cardiology run by East of England/RCPCH.

I am an educational supervisor to paediatric trainees.

I am the organising member of NPEG (Norfolk Paediatric education Group) which delivers once a month free educational seminars aimed at paediatric trainees and consultants that is regularly attended by health care professionals from across the UK.

Dr Hamad Khan

I am a Consultant Neonatologist specialising in cardiovascular care of the newborn infant at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, London

I am a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and am qualified in paediatrics and neonatology.

I completed my training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, before being appointed as a consultant in 2011.

Dr Jay Banerjee

I currently work as a consultant neonatologist with expertise in neonatal cardiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

I graduated from Calcutta Medical College, India with a Gold Medal in internal medicine. Thereafter I received neonatology training in the UK and became a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

I am an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Public Health – Faculty of Medicine and have published many papers in the fields of neonatology and cardiology.

Dr Praveen Kishore

Dr Praveen Kishore is a Consultant Neonatologist at The Royal Alexandra Children Hospital. Dr Praveen Kishore has been a Neonatal Consultant at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit regional NICU at University Hospitals Sussex, Brighton since 2022.

Praveen completed his undergraduate medical education and post-graduation in Paediatrics in India. In the UK, he has trained extensively in neonatology at tertiary neonatal intensive care units in Bristol, Southampton and Portsmouth. He completed special interest training in Paediatric cardiology at Southampton Children’s hospital and has a special interest in Neonatal cardiology and haemodynamics and Point of care Ultrasound. He regularly teaches on POCUS and neonatal ultrasound courses.

Praveen has a keen interest in medical education and simulation training with a special interest in human factors and role of structured debriefing in simulation. He completed his Post graduate certificate in Medical Education from the University of Brighton with distinction and is closely involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education with the Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He instructs regularly on the RCUK courses for Neonatal Life Support (NLS) and Advanced Resuscitation of Newborn Infant (ARNI).

Dr Harsha Gowda

I am a Consultant Neonatologist and Clinical Service Lead for Neonates at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust with interests in Neonatal Cardiology, Haemodynamics, POCUS and Research.

I am chair for West Midlands Neonatal Network Guideline group and I am Health Education England – West Midlands Training Program Director Clinical Tutor for Junior Specialist Doctors

I am also co-lead for education at NeoFOCUS-UK

I have an MSc in Child Health focused in Paediatrics from University of Leeds.
